AND OR OR
2018
Performance
Four performers move in the exhibition space in conformance with the crowd simulation softwares default settings. Directed by the choreographic vocabulary given by the software, programmed to move geographically in space activated by targets and trigger areas. The dancers operate according to coordinates or algorithms within the multi agent systems, such as ”X and Y” ”And”, ”Or”, ”And And Or” ”And Or Or" and so on.

In the performance And or Or the vocabulary of the grammar of behaviour of the crowd simulation software’s default characters are articulated and embodied by four performers in space. By trans-mediating and translating the behavioural codes of the digital agents into physical bodies reveals the difference. The robotic aspect of the agent's movements, when enacted by the dancers, divulge the abstracted gestural grammar, of the software. This choreography favours a homogenous aesthetic of the crowd as a whole. The abstracted and defaulted behaviour of the performers reflects on how the human organic crowds are to behave when optimised digitally. An optimisation of collective behaviour to better fit the given economic/market or political system.
